A Coalition to Support the Financial Reform
The S&D Group, the PES and the European Green Party are now part of the coalition of Europeans for Financial Reform.

The Group of the Progressive Alliance of Socialists & Democrats is the social-democratic political group of the European Parliament. It is on the agenda of the Group to campain for the reforming of the financial markets, demanding for more transparency, clearer rules, stronger supervision and greater stability. "The financial crisis has laid bare the fact that the global financial markets require a new global architecture," says Martin Schulz, the president of the S&D Group.

The Party of European Socialists (PES) is a pan-European political party connecting socialist, social democratic and labour parties from each European Union member state and also Norway. Finding a solution to end the crisis, is in the agenda of the PES. Led by president Poul Nyrup Rasmussen, the PES believes that European and world leaders need to act soon, in order to prevent new financial crises in the future.

The European Green Party (EGP) is a transnational political party having as its members the Green parties from European countries. It is noted in the EGP resolution on the Financial Crisis that one of the primary causes of the current crisis was the deregulation of the financial system. Therefore, the members of the EGP hope that the crisis has sent out a signal that the era of the financial deregulation is deemed to come to an end.
